Background

Stay the night. Discover the place. There is a story in it by itself. Singgahan is a palatial family residence that has been in the late Tuan Haji Abdullah’s family for generations. First built in early 1900s, the house has been lovingly restored and renovated by Abdullah’s wife, Hajjah Faridahanan, to what you see before you today. Hajjah Faridahanan carried the vision of her husband to turn the house into a place where visitors can rest, relax and feel welcomed. They had the vision to expose the unique cultural heritage of the people of Kelantan to the wider public. To educate, revive and upkeep the rich traditions of the local populace. Thus, Singgahan was brought back to life. Singgahan is a magnificent architectural splendour of a tradisional Malay ‘kampung’ house. Fully built of wood, much of which has been retained, while being given a fresh new coat of paint to give it a fresher look. The walls are further adorned with woven bamboo sheets to give it a contemporary, almost chic look.

Facility & Amenities

The wonderfully complemented rooms are fully air-conditioned with ensuite showers and toilets; further enhancing Singgahan’s standing as a modern day guesthouse. Altogether, there are 4 guest rooms with different configurations to suit every needs ranging from a single, double to a family room that fits six persons. Amenities like a wardrobe and a dresser are also placed in every room.

Every attention to detail was placed in reinventing Singgahan. The project team left no stones unturned, ably led by chief designer, Jazzari Jasni. From the hand-made lighting fixtures, wood carvings dating hundred of years, lavish landscaping, tastefully selected beddings and curtains, even to the tiniest detail of rustic door handles, everything was chosen and done artfully so that you’d be smitten the moment you step into Singgahan.

Activities

Indulge yourself in ‘Batik’ drawing. Make one for yourself and take it home with you. While you’re at it, why not make a few more and take it back to your loved ones? Participate in a game of ‘Gasing’, or top spinning. Singgahan offers you not only to come and watch, but also the once-in-a-lifetime experience of actually joining in the fun. When all that activity tires you out, retire to the tradisional spa for a well-deserved massage. As night falls, Singgahan comes alive with a ‘Wayang Kulit’ performance that will simply take your breath away. Wayang kulit is a shadow play using wooden muppets expertly and magnificently guided by the ‘Tok Dalang’, or storyteller.

Come and enjoy the experience. Stay a night or two. Stay for more. Savour the richness and diverse culture and traditions of Kelantanese village life. Take back a piece of history with you. Take in the warmth of Malaysian hospitality.

Only at Singgahan.
